Introducing… TED-E
I’ve had this guy’s interview sat in my inbox for ages now, I just haven’t had the time to edit and post it with everything that’s been going on recently. In a way, I’m kinda glad because in that time Ted-E has uploaded a few new tracks and had his first few singles released. Anyway, I think you guys have waited long enough for this…
Name, age, location?
‘I’m Kamal Bakarkhan aka Ted-E from Mauritius, I’m 20 years old!’
How did you get into music production?
‘One of my friends was making music and kept sending me his beats to ask me what I thought of them, eventually I got curious as to how he was making them he explained it all to me.
I didn’t wait a second before grabbing myself a copy of FL Studio! I have been stuck on making music ever since. I started making music in January 2009, I fell in love with it as soon as I’d made my first messy drum pattern.’
Which producers influence you?
‘A lot of different musicians/producers have influenced me, I like all kinds of music and listen to anything and everything, from Dubstep a few of my main influences have been Rusko, Joker, Kromestar, The Widdler, Coki, Digital Mystikz, Skream, Jakes and many, many more! I’m also influenced by D’n'B, i’m a huge fan of Shy FX, Netsky, Danny Byrd, High Contrast and again the list goes on!’
What inspires you to create music?
‘Many things inspire me to make music, most of it is music itself. When I hear a great track I have to have it on repeat and eventually I open FL studio and I just flow with ideas. A lot of the time my music depends on how I’m feeling, if I have been stressed, happy or sad and generally what emotions I have been feeling. Being in Mauritius, having such nice weather and breathtaking views, nature and the ocean; I have to say alot of my music has been influenced by this amazing country.’
Which of your tracks is your personal favourite (and why)?
‘This question is really hard now that I think about it! I guess if I have to say, my personal favourite would be ‘Killing Instinct’, it was such a fun track to work on, the end product was exactly what I wanted too. I feel that it has a really good momentum in the track and the drums on that track are definitely my favorite drums! I feel it has a great dark vibe and it is heavy on the sub, which is never bad.’
What have you been working on recently? Do you have anything due for release soon?
‘Recently I have been working on a couple of tracks which are going to be Grime/dark deep Dubstep! I actually had two EPs released last month.
Electronic on Another Chance Records (17th of February 2011) and my second one is going to be Four Twenty on Only Good Shit records (25h February 2011) both available now on Beatport.’
Any shout outs you want to do?
‘I would like to big up anyone listening to my music and that can feel the love I put into the music I make. Also big up my family who have been supporting me fully, my friends whom without I would not have been able to do this and a HUGE big up to Dj/Producer Blakbird who has been including my tracks in his amazing mixes and always gives me great feedback. Big shout out to anyone reading this; thank you for taking the time to listen to my music and supporting!’

Next up is ‘Dino Vengeance’ taken from the ‘Naturally Electronic EP’. A heavier track and again, my favourite from the EP.
