Introducing… HELICOPTER SHOWDOWN
This has been a long time coming people! I’ve been talking about this since January! Well, it’s finally here, the interview with Helicopter Showdown! These guys need no introduction, absolutely massive in the scene…
Name, age, location?
‘Blake Powers, Joshua Small, Devan Day & Ryan Wade. We are all mid to late twenties. San Francisco, California.’
How did you get into music production?
‘We all got into music because we were fans first. Now we are trying to create the music we want to hear.’
How did you guys get together?
‘We all come from the same part of the Bay Area, except for Josh, we met him at Guitar Center...’
Which producers influence you?
‘We like a lot of Dubstep. From the early stuff of Flux Pavillion, Doctor P, Rusko, Excision, and Datsik to the more progressive artists like Boy Kid Cloud, Skism, and Skrillex. There’s really too many to mention. We’re pretty much feeling ALL Bass Music at the moment.’
What inspires you to create music?
‘BASS.’
Which of your tracks is your personal favourite (and why)?
‘They are each our favorite, they are all our children. We’ve got dumb kids, smart kids, ugly kids and beautiful kids too, but they are all a part of us and we don’t put out anything we are not proud of.’
What have you been working on recently? Do you have anything due for release soon?
‘Current Slated releases:
T-Vicious – Give Me What I Want (Helicopter Showdown Remix) [Dub Cartel] Released April 20th.
Messinan – Holy Ghost (Helicopter Showdown Remix) [Play Me] OUT EARLY SUMMER.’
What was it like working with Sluggo on ‘The Wrestler’?
‘Sluggs is a madman. Words don’t do him justice! Naw, Sluggs is fam. He has amazing energy and is super fun to work with.‘
Any shout outs you want to do?
‘BIG UP ALL OUR FAM, FANS AND SUPPORTERS!!! ULTRAGORE RECORDS, SIMPLIFY AGENCY, PLAY ME TOO…’
Anything else you want to add?
‘Let’s Voltron this bitch into the future!’
Something a little different for the music section of the feature this time… I really don’t need to go introducing any of these guy’s tracks… So I’ve got a few playlists with clips of some of their tracks. There’s a ‘Releases’ playlist with all of their already-released tracks, a ‘coming soon’ playlist with a couple of fresh tunes on it and a ‘Free’ playlist with tracks that you can grab for free from their Soundcloud page. Enjoy!
