New track from Glyph..!
The guys from Glyph hooked me up with a preview of their new track ‘Favelas Gunfight’ yeaterday. It’s awesome, a very chilled intro leads into a drop with more wobbles that a fat guy after a good belly-slap. It also has some cool samples from the film ‘City of God’.
Check out the interview I did with Glyph here.
Peace.
Introducing… GLYPH
This interview has been a long time coming, I announced that these guys were doing an interview ages ago! They had to wait for a translator as they don’t speak very good English, then, since I received their reply I’ve been super busy. Oh well, it’s here at last! These guys hail from Belgium and I’ve been a massive fan ever since I heard the deep, futuristic sound of their music. This is Glyph…
Name, age, location?
Lixkä: Lucas D’Haeyaert, 22, Charleroi
Mÿosis: Pierre Nesi, 20, Brussels
How did you get into music production?
Lixkä: ‘ I discovered electro underground music ten years ago and I immediately fell in love with it. I had been partying many years on the Belgian underground dancefloor when I began to feel the need to do my own stuff. So in 2009, after months of saving money to buy my production equipment, I really began the whole thing and started to create my own music with the best quality possible.’
Mÿosis: ‘I’ve been involved in music since I was 11. At that time I was playing the guitar. But I was 15 when I really went to my first DnB parties. And that was the signal; I had to do something of my own! I eventually met my musical twin when I was 17 and Glÿph was born!’
Which producers influence you? What inspires you to create music?
Lixkä: ‘I could easily name 200, browsing between many styles and generations… ![]()
If I had to give 5 names I’m thinking about just right now I’d say; Amon Tobin, Noisia, Phace, Datsik … and also Jimi Hendrix ![]()
In fact I’m more into music in general. Anyhow for the moment I really like the new album from Liquid Stranger.’
Mÿosis: ‘If you want me to tell you 5 names it would be Noisia, Billain, Mr Oizo, Downlink and The Prodigy.
Right now I’m listening to Place 2b ‘Bad Santa’.’
Which of your tracks is your personal favourite (and why)?
Lixkä: ‘I pretty like our last production ‘Granny’s toy’. I think we’re seriously improving our sound quality and creation level. I’m starting to feel confident with my work. Our best song is for sure the one still stuck in my mind
‘
Mÿosis: ‘ ‘Purple bear in the brain forest’ remains my favorite. Can’t explain why… But as Lixkä said, our favorite tune resonates in our heads at night!’
What have you been working on recently? Do you have anything due for release soon ?
Mÿosis: ‘We’re working on a forthcoming LP. It will be available at Subcarbon Records (GanjaWhiteNight). Krypled Brain Records will also produce soon another Glÿph EP: ‘Purple Mind’.’
Lixkä: ‘I think my Bass Bro told you everything. Right now we’re progressing pretty fast and we still have many ideas so the future can’t possibly go wrong
! We’ll keep on working to provide good sound!’
Any shout outs you want to do?
Glÿph: ‘Many thanks to all organizations who helped us spreading the Glÿph sound; Fuckin Beat, Nightmare Event, Electrokillah, Openfield Festival, Bankizz, House Bass, Dub-Timus, Finger in the Noize, Rock’tobre, Bass Factory …
Respect to our labels for their big support; Code of arms Rec, Krypled Brain Rec, Monkey Dub Rec, Necroid Rec, Gradient Audio, Fuckin beat, to all the Dancefloor Bro, friends and fans who appreciate our music
Thanks for the Glÿph crew support: Cla, Sev, David, Toni, Zorb, Antoine and Estelle.
A huge big up to our MC Maksim!
And respect to Brainspilla!’
There you have it! Great interview, lots of effort put into by the Glyph guys, big respect to them. Now for the tunes..!
First up we have ‘Purple Bear in the Brain Forest’ mentioned by Myosis in the interview. Ambient sounds give way to deep, dark bass in this track. It’s an absolute beauty…
Now for ‘Granny’s Toy’ mentioned by Lixka. There is a haunting sample of some sort of music box and some dark, futuristic sounds. It all works together very well and creates an almost scary vibe…
Next up is ‘Sub Cubensis’. This is the first track I ever heard by these guys and the one that got me hooked on their sound. There is only one word to describe this tune… BIG..!
Lastly we have a remix of ‘Firecracker’ by Syndaesia. Glyph have brought a much darker sound to this track, quite an incredible transformation. Absolutely awesome tune…
I haven’t even scratched the surface with these tracks. Head over to their Soundcloud to hear more! Also, show them some love on Facebook!
Merry Xmas Everyone!
Peace.
