Robokop – Anthem EP Preview

Introducing… Dagga
I’ve been a big fan of Dagga’s music for some time now. His track ‘Optimus Prime’ was one of the tracks that really got me into Dubstep, so I was stoked when I caught up with him on Facebook and he agreed to do an interview! It’s been a long time coming, sat in my inbox since way back in March but I’ve finally pulled my finger out, got it edited and here it is… Enjoy!
Name, age, location?
Mart, 22, Zoetermeer (The Netherlands).
How did you get into music production?
‘I’ve been playing music since I was 7 years old. But just a few years ago I started looking at DAW’s to be able to record and make beats for fun. I began messing around in Logic Pro and was addicted right away. At first it sounded like crap, but the ideas where there. So instead of doing my homework, I got behind my Macbook and tried to improve my music.’
Which producers influence you?
‘I have so many favorite producers it’s hard to name a few. It ranges from Justice to Dr. Dre to Noisia. But the ones that really got me into Dubstep were: Skream, Bar9, Rusko and Chase & Status.’
What inspires you to create music?
‘Mostly weed, hence Dagga. In all seriousness, it can be anything; a movie, a construction site, an emotion, other artists…’
Which of your tracks is your personal favourite (and why)?
‘That’s a good question. If I really have to choose I’ll pick ‘Unknown Dub’, just because I had the most fun making that tune. Though I still have some mixing to do on that particular track.
What have you been working on recently?
‘I’ve been working hard on completing my debut EP which will be out soon on PrimeDub. I also made a few remixes recently of Excision’s ‘Subsonic’ and Chase & Status’s ‘Time’ (Both contests). There’s an official Robokop remix in the making too.’
Do you have anything due for release soon?
‘Yes, my debut EP, the release date is TBA.’
Any shout outs you want to do?
‘Look out for DutchBass in the near future!’
Big respect to Dagga for the interview, took almost no editing at all and the dude’s been super patient.
First up is ‘Unknown Dub’, his favourite track. Deep and bassy, done in Dagga’s unique style. I’d never heard it before today but this will be played on the regs in my house from now on…
Next is ‘Optimus Prime’. When I first listened to this track I’d never heard anything quite like it before. My brother played it to me and that’s when I really started to look closer at Dubstep. You could say that you have Dagga to thank for this whole site! This track in particular…
Now for Dagga’s remix of ‘Time’ by Chase & Status. I’ve been loving this track recently, definitely the best remix I’ve heard of this tune (and there’s a lot of them!)…

Dagga – ‘Time’ remix…
…Yep! Another one! This time from Dagga. I’m loving the different vibes that are being brought out of this track as more and more producers submit entries. I just received an intrview from Dagga so you can expect that sometime in the near future!
